Invisalign, a popular alternative to braces, is a series of “invisible” trays that straighten your teeth through the course of several weeks, depending on how many sets of trays you will need.
Your first appointment will be a consultation with the dentist to see if you’d be a good candidate for Invisalign. They will then either take impressions or do a 3D scan of your teeth and prepare to send them to Invisalign to create your custom trays! It is very important you get this process done at your dental office to ensure your impressions are done correctly, preventing future issues along the way. Your dentist will put what are called “buttons” on your teeth so your trays have something to grip, this is what helps to straighten your smile. The buttons match the color of your teeth, so you can’t see them and you can barely feel them. Be mindful when eating or brushing your teeth though, as these buttons may possibly come off.
The number of trays patients receive from us depends on each case and how quickly their teeth are progressing. It is pretty typical to change trays every one to two weeks. It’s very cool to see your teeth shifting and straightening before your eyes, make sure you’re taking pictures along the way to show off your progress!
