How do I know if my dental office is in network?
- The easiest way to find out if your dentist is in network with your dental insurance is to call the Member Services phone number on the back of your dental insurance card. You will be directed to a representative and they will gladly help you in finding a dentist!
Do I have to see a dentist in network with my insurance?
- Not necessarily! Some insurance plans offer out of network coverage. Your dental office may call and request a fax of benefits and eligibility, if so, you can either ask them to let you know what they find out or you can call your insurance company and ask them.
What is a waiting period?
- Some patients may have waiting periods in their insurance plan. A waiting period is an amount of time you have to wait after purchasing your insurance plan until a specific service is covered. Waiting periods are commonly seen in major services such as a crown. Insurance companies determine whether or not your plan will have a waiting period, everybody’s plan is unique to them, and the best way to find out if you have a waiting period is to call your insurance company.
What exactly does my plan cover?
- Since your plan could be very different from everyone else’s, you may be curious to know what exactly is covered! Most dental offices will call your insurance company once you’re in the schedule to check on eligibility, but if you are curious you can certainly call your insurance company yourself! Request a “Benefit Breakdown” and your representative will gladly go over it with you. You can also ask your employer if you have insurance through them.
