Have you ever had a canker sore? Those painful, swollen, pesky sores that appear what seems to be out of nowhere? They are mostly caused by stress or accidentally scraping your mouth. They can also be caused by foods that are have a higher acidity.
Canker sores are more common if you’ve already had them. If you’ve had one this year, you’re likely to have a few more in the next several months. Canker sores can last up to two weeks, but if you’ve had one longer than that you might want to ask your dentist or doctor to take a look at it.
One home remedy to get rid of canker sores is to swish with warm water mixed with salt. The salt dries out the sore and it will tend to heal faster. There are other home remedies to use, otherwise you can certainly ask your dentist or doctor about what they’d recommend. When you brush your teeth, make sure to be careful around the area where the canker sore is so you don’t accidentally hurt the surrounding tissue. Canker sores can be found on your tongue, inner lip, and possibly your gums as well.
